Hamburg - home sweet new home
I have been living in Hamburg during my summer internship 2006 - after leaving Notts - and already back then Hamburg offered me so many adventures that I finally managed to deal with being back in goo' ol' Germany and starting all over again...
During the first weeks I (re)discovered most of my fav places in Hamburg: the lake Alster in the middle of Hamburg city, the river Elbe with its harbour and beach, cafés like Chakra in the area Sternschanze, Café Reise Bar in Altona, Hadley's (just opposite the street), party areas like Hamburger Berg with bars like Lucky Star and Rosi's Bar, the independent cinema Abaton not very far from where I live...
I was really lucky of being able to move into Chris' flat for a while, because due to it being situated Beim Schlump, I am in walking distance to beer and dancing. Its like still living in Dupont Circle and being able to walk to Adams Morgan and finding one's way back home easily.
I cannot wait for uni to start, to meet more and more interesting people and to build upon old friendships.

Newseum
Aufgefallen:
"When a dog bites a man, that is not news, because it happens so often.
But if a man bites a dog, that is news."
(John B. Bogart, The Sun)
"News is what somebody, somewhere wants to suppress."
(Lord Northcliff)

the young are seeing history being made
before it is censored by their elders."
(Margaret Mead)
"TV news can only present the bones of a story;
it takes a newspaper to present vast amounts of information to render the story truly boring".

Finale

Boston: MIT vs Harvard
I just wanted to see the second richest institution in the world (btw: 1st is the Roman Catholic Church), the theoretical home of George W. Bush: the famous Harvard!
But then, it seemed that the MIT - recently even more famous due to the movie "21" - an almost true story... [the professor is less criminal and still teaching] attracted my attention even more. Daniel, aua truhli Tschörmän Gaid, showed us the innermost secrets of his mysterious uni.
They say "in Harvard there are no windows, in Harvard its all about heritage and money, there are many who were accepted in Harvard but preferred the MIT... only at night its better to say you are from Harvard - you can impress more girls". As easy as that. ;)
But BOSTON is much more than two unis:
its worth living.
Schlüsselübergabe in DC
the girl on the right might as well be a ghost

Big Apple
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"*

Saturday night we went to one of my friend's friend's friend's recommendation: Nikki Midtown. I did not like the music but I could not stop dancing either. The girls had to drag me out at the end of the night.
